Design & Capacity Options

The MP700 Pro comes in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB flavors, with three cooling options:

• Air-cooled heatsink (with a tiny fan)
• Hydro X water block (for the liquid cooling crowd)
• No heatsink (for the brave or those with good motherboard cooling)

It’s your standard M.2 Type-2280 “gumstick” format, but that heatsink is CHUNKY. I actually had clearance issues with my GPU on one of my test systems, so measure twice before you buy!

Performance Breakdown: The Numbers Don’t Lie

Corsair claims sequential read speeds up to 12,400MB/sec and write speeds up to 11,800MB/sec. Marketing numbers, right? Well, I was shocked when my tests actually came close!

Real-World Testing Results:

• Sequential Read/Write: Peaked at 11,700MB/s read and 11,200MB/s write in CrystalDiskMark. That’s within spitting distance of the advertised specs!
• Random 4K Performance: Hit 1.5 million IOPS for reads and 1.4 million IOPS for writes. In real terms, that’s about 185MB/s for random reads and 166MB/s for random writes.

With the fan-based heatsink, my drive stayed around 50°C under sustained load – impressive! Without any cooling, it thermal throttled within minutes, hitting 80°C and tanking performance.

Here’s my hot take (pun intended): the fan works great but it’s ANNOYING. It’s tiny, which means it spins fast and makes a high-pitched whine. I ended up swapping to my motherboard’s built-in M.2 heatsink and accepting slightly higher temps (65°C) for blessed silence.
